About Catsafe

Robyn Roberts:

About Catsafe Robyn, our customer service manager has been an avid cat lover all her life, and is greatly concerned about the fact that domestic cats have been unfairly branded environmental vandals.   She is also concerned at what seems to be a great increase in animal cruelty, to dogs as well as cats. She is greatly concerned for her four cats’ safety and wellbeing, and they have all been brought up as in-house cats and have had an enclosure for the last ten years.

Robyn and her husband Ken also love to feed the wild birds, and having their cats contained enables them to do this. They are also keen to ensure that their cats do no environmental damage.

Ken Roberts:

Ken, the Director of Catsafe™ has been instrumental in developing Nu Steel Kit Homes for over 25 years and has applied these skills in designing Catsafe™ cat enclosures and cat runs in kit form, at a cost that is affordable to most cat owners. They are made of high quality materials and are individually designed to suit the specific needs of you and your cat (or cats).

Robyn & Ken’s Cats:

Robyn & Ken have four cats Sam, Bob, Tom and Kate (and the cats think they have Robyn & Ken as staff). The cats have always had an outdoor cat enclosure for their enjoyment.  Visitors to Robyn’s and Ken’s house (both cat lovers and non-cat lovers) have all unanimously agreed that the cat enclosures they had at each of their homes were a great idea.

One old friend who is a keen bird breeder had never seen one before, and thought it was a wonderful idea!  So your cat enclosure will not only please you and your cat – it will please just about everyone else for various reasons.

Sam is the head of the cat family (he also thinks he’s head of the household). He is 11 years old. He’s a chinchilla and has had a bad time with the herpes virus, but thanks to some fantastic eye surgery (don’t mention the cost to Ken) he is now free of the virus as it affects his eyes.  However, he’s also an asthmatic and needs an asthma prevention puffer every day, which Robyn gives him from a special cat asthma chamber.

We wonder if this was the result of his being “grabbed” by a hungry carpet snake when he was five months old.  Robyn saved him by rushing in to do battle, getting several bites (which she doesn’t recall) in the process, but much more importantly, managing to save her “baby”.

Bobby is the next eldest of the cat family. He is 9 years old, and when found by the local vet as a 4 month old stray we were asked to adopt him. He’s a highly strung chinchilla who would like to be a film star and adored by everybody. He loves having his photo taken (doesn’t mind the flash in the least) and graciously accepts all the admiration heaped on him by visitors (and Robyn and Ken, of course!).

Kate is our only female cat. She is almost 5 years old and was an orphan looking for a good home – which she found. She’s a shorthair domestic with a strong maternal instinct, who can also growl like a small dog when she’s running around enjoying herself – a real character!  She still has all the toys she’s collected since she was a kitten and gets immense pleasure when she finds them under couches, etc, where they’ve been “lost”. She then proudly presents them to Robyn and Ken with much loud meowing (regardless of the time of day or night)!

Tom is the baby of the family, although not in size. He’s almost 4 years old and resents Kate’s efforts to mother him. He’s also a shorthair domestic who was in need of a good home. We think he’s an “old soul” and he’s very loving and (generally!) placid. Every now and then he breaks out and causes havoc with Bob, tearing around all over the furniture and generally having great fun.

We came upon Kate and Tom at Christmas time when the two Chinchillas were due for their ‘flu shots and couldn’t resist them, so that’s how we ended up with our family of four!
